Whether you’re a newcomer to the speaking business or have you been on stages for 20 years… This presentation is for you. Thom Singer, CSP has been NSA member for over 17 years. He built a successful speaking career, and then in 2020 he watched it all evaporate in the pandemic. What he did to build his business the first time was not going to get him there the second time around. The meetings business had changed and the world had changed.
This presentation will share a variety of ideas on how to build or rebuild a speaking business. It will also be interactive, and we will hear from some of the local members who will add their two cents to invention and reinvention in this wacky world of professional speaking.

Meet Thom Singer, CSP
Thom Singer, CSP, is a 17-year member of the National Speakers Association who has contributed to the association in multiple roles. He was the original host of NSA’s Speakernomics podcast, curating over 100 episodes of tactical insights for speakers. He also served as the curator and lead contributor for NSA’s Voices of Experience blog, and is a featured breakout speaker at the 2025 Influence conference.
Thom has delivered more than 1,000 professional presentations and is known for helping companies and associations create cultures of connection through his keynote, Uncommon Connections: Human Interaction in a World of AI. He is also the CEO of the Austin Technology Council and the author of 12 books on business relationships, networking, and career success.
As a long-time speaker, podcast host, event emcee, and advocate for community-building, Thom brings both experience and fresh energy to everything he does on and off stage.
